In-Depth photo illustrations
The photo made into art: The picture represents New York after 9/11. I like the image because it makes me think of little bill, a TV show on nick Jr. and I very much enjoy that show.
The photo realistic alteration: This picture represents the simplicity of a pickle. I like it because I like pickles and I think this shows a good side of it.
The composite image: This picture shows how music has engulfed people and their minds. I like music a lot, and i think this image is done really well.

The staged illustration (Traditional): This picture represents the ideal wedding, with the perfect bride, perfect place, and perfect dress. I like this picture because her face is interesting and the location is nice.

The picture is just an advertisement for the upcoming blues festival. They just made the bad photograph part of the effect, and added other graphics into it to go along with it.
They probably just used photoshop to edge up the photo a little bit, and then they used some drawing program to draw the cloud.

12.Surroundings-I like how you can see most of downtown austin, and the lighting isn't too bad, it casts a shadow in the back, i liked this picture the most cause it has a lot going on, with the buildings, and cars, give you a lot of options to look at, but your eye goes dirtectly to the bridge that is there in the middle.

The photo i agree with on the judges is the picture of the girls running falling over each other, it makes you want to see what is going to happen next, the girls are just about to tumble over each other braking some bones maybe, who knows it's an exciting picture.
Portfolio's
Name of photographer -Travis Haughton
General focus of portfolio (photoj, sports, stories, etc.)
-Sports,events,emotion
List three problems that the judges note with the portfolio -Doesn’t look staged.Don’t like pictures of sign if you can’t read it,and or Blocked face or head.
List two things the judges like-Lighting, lot's of levels, somewhat graphic.
What is your overall impression? What did you like or not like?I like how he would capture true emotion, but his pictures are something you'd see everyday in a magazine or newspaper,i rather see something interesting i've never seen before without making a bad comment about it. I didn't like how he didn't fill most of the frame, and most pictures were blank, didn't have a story to it, what so ever.
What did the judges note as strengths as they were critiquing it?Color composition, busy, creative, had a story, very unique.
What do you see as strengths? Do you see any weaknesses? The stregths i saw, was that this photographer made sure he really got in there,so if you were to see the picture, you'd feel that emotion, or event happening. His weaknesses were Proabably his pictures were blurry, but to the judges it was a cool effect.
The judges go through some of the students portfolios, and see if there is a great story, if all the pictures are strong enough to just tell that story without having to read a caption. They make their judgment saying whether one or two pictures throws it all off, or their all just very strong pictures. which to them Dustin had won the compitetition.

I read about 10 minutes
I, too, sing America.I am the darker brother. They send me to eat in the kitchenWhen company comes,But I laugh,And eat well,And grow strong.Tomorrow,I'll be at the tableWhen company comes.Nobody'll dareSay to me,"Eat in the kitchen,"Then.Besides, They'll see how beautiful I amAnd be ashamed--I, too, am America.
This photo is formal. The lighting on there faces and clothes makes them seem like cowboys and they have been through alot. Its a really good photo.

#27 Entertainment Weekly (May 2, 2003) The Dixie Chicks appear naked on this cover of Entertainment Weekly with slogans such as “Boycott,” “Traitors,” “Hero” and “Proud Americans” printed on their bodies. Two months before, member Natalie Maines criticized the impending invasion of Iraq by President George Bush at a concert in London. This remark sparked intense criticism from many Americans who subsequently boycotted The Dixie Chicks music and concerts. In their interview with Entertainment Weekly, the group discussed their reaction to the criticism and what lies ahead for them in the country music industry.
I like this one because the dixie chicks are naked.
